Today we made up a little ditty. It was born of three, five-gallon buckets full of green beans to snap and can, and this after we picked them (over the course of four days or so; we'd been "saving them up", ie-- procrastinating.) Here's how it goes:
These are the beans that never end
Yes they go on and on, my friend
Of course we started snapping them
Early in the morn
And we'll just keep on snapping them
Until we have sweet corn...
These are the beans that never end
They're like the loaves and fish, my friend
We'll gather seven basketfuls just when we thought we're done
And we'll just keep on snapping them
Forever, just for fun...
Okay, so it isn't a number one hit in the making, but it did help us laugh our way through the mountains of beans, ending up with about 25 quarts canned. Oh, and we gathered enough cucumbers today for ONE jar of pickles! Everyone is cheered when they see the pickle jar. :)
